Choosing a 2-Person Home Lift: Features, Benefits & Cost
News 11/28/2024
Alright, so you’re lookin’ at gettin’ one of them fancy lifts for your house, huh? For two folks, ya say? Well, lemme tell ya what I know, which ain’t much, but it’s somethin’.
Now, these things, they call ’em “2 person lifts” or “home elevators,” sounds real highfalutin, don’t it? But it just means it’s a little box that goes up and down, carryin’ two folks. Good for if you got stairs and your knees ain’t what they used to be, or maybe someone in the house needs a little help gettin’ around. Saves ya from huffin’ and puffin’ up them stairs, that’s for sure.
I heard tell they can fit ’em in most houses, even if you don’t got a mansion. They got different sizes, ya see. Some are real small, just enough for two, and that’s what you’re lookin’ at, right? Good for smaller houses, they say. Don’t take up too much room.
- They got these things called “features,” which is just a fancy word for stuff they do. Some got doors that open all fancy, some got buttons that light up, some even got a little phone in case you get stuck. I reckon you don’t need all that fancy stuff, but it’s nice to have, I guess.
- And then there’s the “benefits,” which is what you get out of it. Well, the biggest benefit is you don’t gotta climb them stairs no more. That’s a big one, let me tell ya. And if you got someone in a wheelchair, well, this thing’s a lifesaver, literally. Makes life a whole lot easier.
Now, the part that’ll make your wallet cry – the cost. Heard it ain’t cheap, not one bit. They throw around numbers like “forty-six thousand dollars” and “sixteen to twenty thousand pounds.” Sounds like a whole lotta money to me. But I guess if you really need it, you gotta do what you gotta do.
That price, mind you, that’s just for the lift itself. Don’t include the mess they make puttin’ it in. You gotta have someone tear up your house a bit, you know, makin’ a hole in the floor and such. That’s gonna cost ya extra. So, be prepared for that. They call it “builders’ works,” sounds expensive already, don’t it?
So, how do you choose the right one? Well, that’s the tricky part. You gotta figure out what you need. How big does it need to be? How fancy do you want it? And most importantly, how much can you afford? Don’t go breakin’ the bank for somethin’ you can’t afford.
Go talk to some folks who sell these things. They’ll tell ya all about it, probably try to sell ya the most expensive one they got, but you just stick to your guns and get what you need. Don’t be fooled by all them fancy words and shiny brochures. And get a few different opinions, don’t just go with the first fella you talk to.
And remember, these things, they need lookin’ after. Like a car, you gotta get ’em checked out every now and then, make sure they’re workin’ right. Don’t want it gettin’ stuck between floors, now do ya? That’d be a pickle.
Overall, these home lifts, they seem like a good thing if you need ’em. Make life easier, that’s for sure. But they cost a pretty penny, so you gotta think long and hard before you jump in. Do your homework, talk to folks, and don’t let anyone pressure ya into somethin’ you don’t want or can’t afford.
That’s all I know about them fancy lifts. Hope it helps ya make up your mind. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. All this talk about elevators and money got me hungry.
