2 Post Car Lifts: The Best Choice for Your Professional Workshop

News 12/04/2024

Alright, let’s talk about them car lifts, you know, the things that hoist them big ol’ cars up in the air. I seen ’em in them city shops, always wondered how they worked.

What Kinds of Car Lifts Are There?

Now, from what I gather, there’s a bunch of different kinds. Them fellas in the shops, they mostly use somethin’ called a “two-post lift.” Sounds fancy, huh? It’s just two big ol’ arms that go up and down, lifting the car by its frame. They say it’s good for gettin’ under the car and fixin’ things. You know, like when the muffler falls off, or somethin’. These two-post lifts, they can be bolted to the floor, and they use some kinda motor, like electric or somethin’, to make ‘em go up and down. They got these things called hydraulics, sounds complicated, but it just means they use some kinda fluid to push them arms up.

Then there’s these “four-post lifts.” These ones, they lift the car by the wheels, like it’s still sittin’ on the ground. They say these are better for just keepin’ a car up high, not so much for fixin’ ‘em. Kinda like when you wanna store a car up high to save space, I guess. Makes sense, I reckon.

Where Can You Use a Car Lift?

Well, them shops, they gotta have ‘em, right? How else they gonna get under them cars? But I heard tell you can even put one in your own garage, if you got the space. They say you need a tall ceiling, at least ten feet, and enough space to park a car, of course. Imagine that, having your own car lift! Seems kinda fancy for an old gal like me, but hey, if you got the money, why not?

Why Are Car Lifts Useful?

Now, I ain’t no mechanic, but even I can see why these lifts are handy. Makes it a whole lot easier to get under a car, that’s for sure. No more crawlin’ around on the ground, gettin’ all dirty and achy. And them two-post lifts, they say you can get all the way around the car, makes it easier to fix things.

  • Easy Access: You can get under the car without breakin’ your back.
  • Saves Space: Them four-post lifts can even help you store a car up high if you ain’t got much room.
  • Faster Repairs: Mechanics can work faster when they ain’t gotta wrestle with gravity.

Where Can You Get a Car Lift?

I heard you can buy these things all over. Them shop fellas, they probably get ‘em from special places, but I even seen ‘em advertised on that there internet thingy. Someone told me you can even find ’em on eBay, along with just about everything else under the sun. Makes sense, I guess. You can buy anything on that internet nowadays.

What to Look For in a Car Lift?

Now, if I was gonna get myself one of these lifts, which I ain’t, mind you, I’d want somethin’ sturdy. Somethin’ that ain’t gonna fall apart on me when I got a car up in the air. And I’d want one that’s easy to use. I ain’t got time for fussin’ with complicated contraptions. And I guess you gotta think about how much space you got, and how heavy them cars are that you’re liftin’. You don’t wanna go liftin’ a truck with somethin’ made for a little car, that’s for sure.

So, Are Car Lifts Worth It?

Well, if you got a shop, then it’s a no-brainer, you need one. For regular folks, I guess it depends. If you work on cars a lot, or if you just got too many cars and not enough space, then maybe it’s worth lookin’ into. But for an old gal like me, just drivin’ my old pickup to the store and back, I reckon I’ll just stick to lettin’ the fellas at the shop do the liftin’. They got the know-how, and the tools, and that’s good enough for me.

Lifting Speed:And them fellas at the shop always talkin’ about how fast the car goes up and down. Said somethin’ about “fast lifting times”. Quicker the liftin’, the quicker they get the work done, and the quicker they can move on to the next car. Time is money, as they say.

Small Space Requirement:And another thing them youngsters at the shop like is how some of them lifts don’t take up too much room. Makes it easier to squeeze more work into a small space. They call it “small space requirement”, sounds fancy, huh?

360 Access: And the best ones, the fellas say, are the ones that let you walk all the way around the car when it’s up in the air. Makes it a whole lot easier to get to everything that needs fixin’. “360 access”, they call it. Sounds like a whole lot of spinnin’ to me, but I guess it makes sense when you’re workin’ on a car.

Anyways, that’s about all I know about them car lifts. Seem like useful things, but I’ll stick to my old pickup, thank you very much.
